BETWEEN THE RIVER AND I

 An investigation of a personal poetic narrative of attachment and intimacy with two bodies of water Aotearoa’s Akatarawa and Whanganui River. The Whanganui is the first river in the world to be recognised as an indivisible and living being and granted personhood. Exploring the concept of Personhood; Te Awa Tupua Act (the River Ancestor) through the lens of personal memory and Whanau (Family community). The series of works including moving image, sound, sculpture are documented interventions between personal family stories, actions and the river. The outcomes examine alternative perceptions of a natural nonhuman resource.
